WORKS FOR

Building a custom text editor into a web application, Creating a collaborative editing feature for team documents, Adding rich text formatting to user-generated content

KEY INSIGHT

It's a powerful developer tool for building custom editors, not a plug-and-play solution for non-technical users.

DOESN'T WORK FOR

Simple projects needing a basic, out-of-the-box editor with minimal setup, Situations where you lack in-house JavaScript/React/Vue expertise for integration

WORKED

Tiptap is built on top of ProseMirror, which gives you a proper document model, collaborative editing, and a very composable extension architecture. If you're building something like Notion or a collaborative SaaS editor, that's absolutely the right choice.

MIXED

The product quality and developer experience with Tiptap are truly excellent, but having an editor as a subscription service can be difficult to justify for many projects.
