WORKED

I used Claude in Github Copilot, so total cost was less than the $10 month in credits.

GitHub Copilot is pretty cheap and gives you basically unlimited autocomplete and generous monthly quotas that let you try out the most popular models.

GitHub Copilot is already $10 and I don t even use up the requests every month, it s the most bang for buck LLM service I ve used.

But the former works totally fine and still lets you select sonnet opus.

The cheapest plan of all is free and unlimited - GitHub Copilot. I would not suggest coding with them, but for really basic stuff, you can't get better than free. I would not recommend their paid plans, they actually have the lowest limits of any provider.

They were awesome for boilerplate, form handlers, and boring CRUD, but the second we touched anything stateful or performance-sensitive, the suggestions looked fine in review and then blew up under real traffic.

Reddit • Developer • Use case: Maintaining internal dashboard for ops

WORKED

I adore Github CoPilot btw. It can hook up several models during coding and automate a lot of things on the platform as well.

FAILED

No you can’t choose the rules in Github Copilot nor does it have team rules support

Reddit • Developer • Use case: organize and track code with team rules

WORKED

it can guide you through the setting of Oauth and database configuration in less than one hour.

Reddit • Developer • Use case: Setting up OAuth and database configuration

Then came GitHub Copilot. Same guilt, louder. But here's what I've noticed: the bottleneck in my work was never typing speed or remembering syntax. It was always *understanding the problem well enough to ask the right question*.

ai accelerates building, but it doesn’t replace planning, debugging discipline

Reddit • Developer • Use case: Lower barrier to shipping code but not maintaining it

Everything “worked” until a weird edge case hit and I realized nobody on the team could explain half the data flow, including me.

Reddit • Developer • Use case: Rushed out a small product using AI for coding

WORKED

GitHub Copilot in VS Code for small fixes. That combo got me to production faster than I expected.

I have GitHub Copilot Pro, works good so far for me within VSCode.

Reddit • Developer • Use case: General coding assistance

GitHub Copilot is solid too if you're working directly in your IDE
