Small teams running simple projects with Kanban boards; non-technical users who want visual task management without training; freelancers tracking client work
Lowest barrier to entry of any project management tool. Drag-and-drop Kanban is intuitive for anyone. Free plan is genuinely useful for small teams. Starts to show limits once projects get complex.
Teams needing Gantt charts, time tracking, or complex dependencies without Power-Up add-ons; projects with more than ~50 cards per board

This is so powerful. It combines task lists and kanban.

Trello boards (Kanban boards in general) work great for certain types of people like designers, but they've never worked great for engineers I've worked with.

I prefer Jira over every alternative I've tried (...Trello...).

native-like performance is what other popular tools like Jira or Trello miss.

made trello still the best and most clean

A newer, sleeker alternative comes out with 20% of the features, resulting in a cleaner, faster UX that eats market share (Trello Jira).

I'm also open to acceptable alternatives to Jira and Trello.

I use Trello to organize my life. At the moment I cannot imagine what kind of features an alternative would have to offer for me to consider switching.

I have a massive Trello board. For personal stuff, fitting everything into one work flow is fine.

Trello is so incredibly slow, even on the app.

I'd love to see an open-source Trello alternative that as well. There are a few out there, but nothing that seems actively maintained.

Trello is an awful tool for this because their database doesn't scale well to large boards.

I've stopped too many projects at the I buy a domain name stage, and added an intermediate I create a Trello board step between that and starting to write code. No need to pull all-nighters... if all I need to do is add a card to a feature wishlist.

I built a Trello alternative (frustrated with limitations: wanted rows and decent performance).
