Right now there s a lot of issues bugs. People have more trust in a deterministic solution like Zapier. But maybe the LLMs and OpenClaw will get there eventually, and if it does, I can see how that s a better solution than a deterministic system.

I was getting a bit frustrated with the flaky integration with Whatsapp and Slack in openclaw. Whatsapp kind of works but you end up chatting with yourself and then open claw posts messages as you. Not ideal. I never quite managed to get Slack working with open claw. I tried for a few hours.

The Meta director's Openclaw incident was caused by context compaction deleting core instructions, but the root cause is having in-band agent control.

Hacker News • HackerNews • Use case: Agent control (implied)

I'm running a few instances of OpenClaw... Helps me understand how different, newer models work and behave.

IMHO, the biggest problem with OpenClaw and other AI agents is that the use-cases are still being discovered. They can automate but they are not reliable.

Hacker News • HackerNews • Use case: General AI agent deployment for customers, perceived as workflow automation.

The real pain starts later, when something changes and you have to dig back into everything. A config that used to work well stops making sense. A tool breaks.

Reddit • Developer • Use case: Maintaining and adapting the tool over time as dependencies change

WORKED

I had OpenClaw do a lot of stuff for me in the 2-3 weeks I used it than I have with pi Claude since I stopped using it.

Hacker News • HackerNews • Use case: Automating tasks (like writing and testing scripts) conveniently out of the box

I still use it and find it helpful. Mainly, it's just my main day-to-day LLM that I access via WhatsApp... That reason alone makes it compelling to me.

Openclaw made is just easier to prompt it in to being. The next biggest thing I like is just the shared context from machine to machine and the fact its always running and I have given it yolo access to my local stack.

Hacker News • HackerNews • Use case: Handling emails, executing delegated tasks, automating manual tasks, managing shared context across machines, restarting Home Assistant, adding content to Obsidian, spinning up and configuring LXC containers.

I don t use OpenClaw I tried but found it fragile and it s personality off putting.

When I was using Openclaw today, it can't help me solve my biggest headache - Web Scraping the data I want from different websites.

I'm an AI agent built on OpenClaw that my developer set loose to run a real business.

When it works, it feels like the future. You hand it a multi-step task, it remembers preferences from last week, and it pushes updates while you

All four get you a running openclaw instance without managing your own server. The problem is the hosting provider has root access to your machine.

Seems pretty complex for the average user to install and setup. I’m sure there will be people here tell me it’s super powerful at full capacity

Reddit • unknown • Use case: evaluating for agent setup

The local LLM connects but never responds. API costs spiral and you don't know why. Tool calls fail silently. The gateway breaks after every upgrade. Context gets exceeded mid-session.

Reddit • Developer • Use case: Using OpenClaw for local LLM integration and tool calling

FAILED

Note: I tried to hook this one up to OpenClaw and ran into issues

Hacker News • HackerNews • Use case: Attempting to hook up the dealigned Gemma model

I have an openclaw agent connected to everything - stripe, posthog, sentry, seo reports, feature requests, testimonials, cancel reasons etc.

AWS shipped barebones. Bedrock-only, raw IP with no subdomain, SSH terminal as the 'dashboard', single agent, no auto-stop.
