What Figma achieved technically in the 2010s was amazing. Coded the app in C++ and then used WASM to deliver it as a multiplayer web app. But now it s trying to be too many things. Why did they ever feel the need to add slides and this other stuff. Their MCP is poor (sure, they ll improve it). The app struggles with larger files and performance is sloppy. And don t get me started trying to design data grid heavy apps.

People that think that Claude Design is going to replace Figma don’t really understand how both products relate. The entire workflow between designer -- dev hand off is going to change.

I'd think AI design integrated with Figma is in a much better position to address these more complicated scenarios. Just pointing out it's not about to replace Figma or other more comprehensive design tools.

I didn t want yet another lovable.dev or v0 with figma make, I wanted the prompt - figma design which I could iterate on by hand once I got something in place.

I like seeing changes in the vector tool first, and then pushing out any changes to a JSON file where it can be used by the AI tool.

In light of recent Figma news, lemme reiterate that of all the goods that can happen to the web, 90% of them can't happen due to not having access to font rendering metrics in JS.
