ChatGPT is OpenAI's conversational AI chatbot and the most widely used AI tool globally (700M+ weekly active users). Capabilities include text generation, code writing, data analysis, image generation (DALL-E), web browsing, file uploads, custom GPTs, and deep research mode. Available via web, desktop, and mobile apps. Business and Enterprise plans add team workspaces, admin controls, and data privacy guarantees.
Email drafts, performance reviews, HR docs, first drafts, Excel help, document polish, SOPs, argument prep
ChatGPT Plus at $20/mo remains the sweet spot for most professionals. The $200 Pro tier targets power users who hit rate limits constantly. The Team/Business plan ($25-30/user/mo) adds critical data privacy — your data is NOT used for training, unlike Free and Plus. Custom GPTs are useful but discovery is poor. Rate limits on lower tiers can be frustrating during peak hours.
Businesses needing domain-specific accuracy without human review, teams requiring guaranteed uptime and SLAs (lower tiers have rate limits), organizations with strict data governance requirements (need Enterprise plan)

I sometimes use AI to generate boilerplate code that I use as a base but I end up refactoring it so heavily that rarely anything actually AI written gets committed. I feel AI is mostly useful as a super slow search engine.
